The IFG-Membrane Technology Department was established in March 2014 and has access to state-of-the art research facilities within the National Research Centre of the Helmholtz Association. As a technician/engineer you will be responsible to set up laboratory equipment and support researchers working in three main interest areas of the department (i) new membrane materials, (ii) membrane retention and fouling mechanisms, and (iii) membrane systems development – applied to water treatment.
The equipment encompasses membrane filtration and preparation systems, analytical instruments, and associated control and data acquisition equipment. The job entails the design, equipment selection, purchasing and set-up of components, sensor connection, control, data acquisition, liaison with workshops and manufacturers, trouble shooting, health & safety compliance as well as some guided experimentation and data analysis. Researchers of the team will need to be trained to use the equipment.
The position is a central part of our research activity and hence provides an interesting opportunity to gain insight into many research projects.
Qualifications: | Degree (Diploma/FH/DH/Bachelor) in Chemical/Process/Electrical Engineering/ Applied Physics or equivalent You have completed a degree and have demonstrated hands on experience with relevant equipment (e.g. membrane filtration; sensors, control & data acquisition; analytical instruments) and problem solving skills. Interest in water treatment processes, membrane technologies, polymer materials, analytical chemistry, micropollutant detection and environmental issues will be a good foundation to the position. Willingness to work on projects in the field – for example in developing countries - will be a great asset to contribute to ongoing projects while good written & spoken English skills are an essential requirement. |
Salary: | Remuneration shall be based on the Collective Agreement for the Public Service Sector. |
Duration: | Initially one year with the possibility to extend Bei Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern mit einem unbefristeten Arbeitsvertrag wird das Arbeitsverhältnis durch die Befristung nicht berührt. |
