The three-day Biomaterials - Made in Bioreactors conference is one of the largest annual events for German bioprocessing technology. It is organized by the Dechema Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie. This year's focus was on the presentation and discussion of novel and sustainable bioprocesses and organic products.
The poster "Reactor Devices for the Compartmentalized Immobilization of Enzyme Cascades" by Franziska Kazenwadel was awarded a poster prize. It shows a novel approach to immobilization of artificial enzyme cascades, which can be used for the production of complex bioproducts. Individual reactor modules are used to immobilize the biocatalysts and are connected in series by means of a pump and hose system. Regulation modules for temperature control and pH control of the individual reaction compartments complement the flexible approach.
